Marmalade SDK Announces Beta partners for 6.1 Release
Get ready to spread further with Marmalade
London, UK and GDC Europe, Cologne, Germany: Marmalade - the cross-platform tool that enables app developers to create without compromise - today announces the Beta release of Marmalade 6.1 which allows developers to also target Windows and Mac OS X. Mobile games developers who’ve had success on iOS or Android can now further monetise their content across popular desktop channels such as Steam, Gamersgate and the Mac Store.
As part of the 6.1 Beta program, Marmalade are working closely with game studios HotGen and Nomad Games to showcase the new Windows and Mac support by bringing some of their best games to desktop channels. The first titles to be ported to Windows and Mac successfully as part of the Beta program are To-Fu, To-Fu 2 and Spacelings (HotGen/Devolver) and a first-class PC game approaching completion by Nomad Games.
Terry Haynes, Managing Director, HotGen Limited: “Building apps with Marmalade is simply a question of using the best tool for the job. The ability to seamlessly port our content to the widest possible range of platforms is vital, as is having access to open platform support and a flexible toolset. The iOS and Android games we built with Marmalade have seen great success, and we’re thrilled now to be able to bring these to Windows and Mac.”
Mat Draper, Programming Director, Nomad Games: “Marmalade lets us leverage our resources really efficiently in a small team. As seasoned C++ programmers we could start coding immediately and make the most of our experience. The biggest win with Marmalade is the platform support - having never previously targeted mobile platforms, we had demos up and running within days.”
Tony Waters, Head of SDK, Marmalade: “We’re very excited to be working with both Nomad Games and HotGen for the Marmalade 6.1 release. Marmalade continues to be a winning solution for game developers large and small, and these partnerships are proof that platform choice and reach when you build with Marmalade, are second to none.”
