What is it?

Marmalade’s Publishing is an innovative way for mobile application developers to tap into new distribution and revenue channels. You can apply to join here.

Apps created with Marmalade will run on a wide range of operating systems and devices, and can therefore be distributed to multiple app stores. Thanks to our partnerships with many major store owners, the Publishing helps developers maximize this distribution opportunity. We can make sure your apps sell in more places and increase your profits.

What’s the process?

Through the Publishing, we’ll assess and rate the apps you submit. If they meet the right criteria, and weren’t originally made with Marmalade, they will need to be ported to the SDK (either by you or us).

It’s straightforward to port your best-performing content to Marmalade. Depending on the quality of the app, we may be able to cover your porting costs or even handle the porting ourselves.

It’s then down to us to get as many stores as possible interested in your app. That means you’re no longer on your own when it comes to distributing your content – and you don’t personally have to risk investing in new platforms.

What’s the deal?

Membership of the Publishing is free - in fact Marmalade will give you a financial incentive to join. Then, when our store partners take on one of your apps, you’ll get 80% of the royalties after the store owners have taken their cut. Marmalade will publish the content on your behalf and, crucially, you’ll retain the intellectual property rights as well as the bulk of the revenues.

Also, after you’ve worked with Marmalade, you’ll probably want to start using it for future development projects. That means that all your apps could be considered for the Publishing and, if appropriate, distributed to a multitude of devices and operating systems. What’s more, we’ll give you a free SDK license, along with access to dedicated support, so you can create your new apps from scratch with Marmalade.
