We need some advice on putting together an Android app to interface to a MODBUS TCP socket server
I'm working on a game engine and set of tools for Marmalade SDK.

Windows 8 / Phone 8 is coming soon
Yeah, but you are talking about new supported platform for Marmalade in general, right? I am asking here if WebMarmalade will be some day available fo Blackberry/Bada/WebOS etc.
When can we expect to see a Web Marmalade official roadmap explicitly listing which platforms shall be supported and when such support shall arrive?
AFAIK, nothing much seems to be happening for BlackBerry devices, for example: either PlayBook OS 2.x or the upcoming BB10 OS (sensor support APIs, WebWorks support/integration, bbUI.js, ...).
We will be updating our public roadmap page soon.
In the 6.2 release (likely to be end November) we plan to support Windows Phone 8, including support for the EDK and Web Marmalade. Support for Windows 8 ARM tablets should come alongside that, or soon after.
In the 6.3 release (Q1 next year), we plan to support Windows 8 desktop (x86). Again, all Win 8 family platforms will come with support for the EDK and Web Marmalade.
Marmalade aims to expose PlayBook OS and BB10 features soon after they are exposed in the native NDK. Currently, the NDK is not exposing many features, hence we are not able to support them in Marmalade.
Marmalade has deprecated its support for webOS. We are interested in how much demand there continues to be (or not) in the community for us to support bada.
VERY happy to hear about Windows Phone 8 support.
Good call on WebOS. It's so dead I don't even think there is a word for it.
I really do hope Playbook and RIM stay afloat, it really is a good device!
As for Bada, mixed bag for us. We made over $1000 with them over 6 months BUT after Samsung, carriers and various other agents have taken their cut, we JUST got a check in August for $166... 8 months AFTER the game was originally launched!
To break it down a little, Bada is big in Asia, the middle-east, eastern Europe and Russia. Western Europe has very little Bada users. So there are lots of people using Bada BUT MOST people in these various areas of the world don't use credit cards so billing is either via the carrier or SMS. Some use credit card but it's the minority for sure. Because of this, you have to wait MUCH longer for carrier and SMS based billing to trickle down to you (up to 6 months) and even then, Samsung won't pay you until you have accumulated >= $150 USD.
So that and the fact that their developer portal is crap, it takes forever to get a game approved and there is no easy way to add updates to a game, I'm not about to make it my favorite platform.
That said, it's worth noting that, we had over 100,000 demo downloads of Alpha Wave which leads me to believe that free, ad supported games may be the best bet for Bada.
Hi guys,
I am very interested in Bada and Symbian support.
So Maramlade team please continue to support Bada nad Sybian ;-)
