Hi,

I just upgraded to 6.0.6 and I now cannot open any mkb files due to the mdev update failing.

I'm pretty sure source.marmalade.com has gone down.

Executing: 'c:\marmalade\6.0.6\s3e\bin\mdev.bat update'
Downloading: http://source.madewithmarmalade.com/packages/6.0/Packages
error: error downloading url: http://source.madewithmarmalade.com/packages/6.0/P
ackages ()
c:/marmalade/6.0.6/modules/iwutil/iwutil.mkf(13) : error: Executing 'c:\marmalad
e\6.0.6\s3e\bin\mdev.bat update' failed. (return code 1)
FAILED (error code=3)
Press any key to continue . . .

I've tried from other machines (on other networks), and http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/source.marmalade.com also reports the server down.

Thanks to this, I have missed an important deadline as I can no longer open any projects :(

I need some way to either disable mdev updates for now, or another method for installing the packages ASAP.

Please look into this, Marmalade team.

Matt

I didn't update or change

I didn't update or change anything -- and I doubt there is anything new that needs to be downloaded. The fact that this update is a required part of the build process seems rather silly.

Why is my updated working software broken because of an inability to contact source.madewithmarmalade.com updater?

I've got heavy duty testing going on, and I need to be able to compile these new builds....

Can we please get an

Can we please get an explanation about this auto-update system? Why the heck is it attempting auto-updating when it does?

It seems a very bad idea for updates to be downloaded simply by opening a project. That has the potential to kill a build (or introduce very subtle bugs) on submission day, without changing a single line of code - just by opening the project!

It'd be nice to know why it's recently started updating these specific packages. And then to make the auto-update optional, maybe a checkbox in the Marmalade Configuration Utility?

If the server was down, it

If the server was down, it seems OK now, it's working for me anyway...

Yep, seems to be back up now,

Yep, seems to be back up now, disaster averted I guess.

Still, it would be very useful to have some kind of contingency for when we can't access the server.

I'd rather run temporarily out-of-date libraries than have no way of building / opening my projects :)
