Studio Light Rigger

Description

Studio Light Rigger (SLR) is the most advanced mobile app for planning photographic lighting set-ups. With a sophisticated 2D and 3D interface, users can position in 3D space many different types of photographic lights, pose 3D character models, place cameras and preview the resulting lights and shadows.

Steven Teague is a professional photographer with a history in software development. When Steven wanted to create a mobile app to assist fellow professionals in modelling complex photographic lighting environments, he chose Marmalade.

Using Marmalade’s flexible UI framework, together with the rich 2D and 3D drawing APIs, Steven was able to create a sophisticated user interface allowing intuitive placement and manipulation of cameras and lights in 3D space.

Marmalade’s flexible skeleton and animation API allowed Steven to export a library of 30+ character poses as animation key frames (allowing for a low memory footprint) that can be applied to hi or low resolution character models for photographers to experiment with.

Through its placement in the Marmalade Apps Program, Steven has received additional revenue advances and royalties by having Studio Light Rigger delivered to Samsung Apps (bada).
