Independent game studio Insurgent Games has released its latest addictive puzzler Cryptose on Android Market and also submitted it to the iPhone App Store. Cryptose Lite is also available on these platforms for free.

Cryptose is a cryptogram word game that demands logic and deductive reasoning to decode secret messages. Players choose between three occupations to uncover answers on a detective's notepad, the blood-stained parchment of a spy, or an old-school hacker's TRS-80 computer screen.

Made with Marmalade, the game is peppered with interesting facts and quotes about encryption, cypherpunks and the history of code-breaking. Micah Lee, founder of Insurgent Games, says: “I wanted to make a game that helps people learn about encryption. Cryptography is important to freedom. And it's also fun.”
